Hello, Thinking on installing Vista Home Premium on my system (Abit BE7 with PIV 3.06GB (O/C'd to 3.5GB), 1GB Ram) when it's released in a week or so, I have run the Vista upgrade advisor and this has said that my HPT372 Raid controller on my 4 year old ABit BE7 will not run. Just visiting the Dell forums you can see a ton of users very upset they haven't gotten their Vista DVD's right away as they were promised ::rollseyes:: of hardware working, some Linux user will say I'm using a stupid version and should run this Distro instead or just plain blame things outside of my control.

Will they be "suspicious" about me modifying my hardware all the time? (I will have to call them almost every month) Personally, I believe someone who has to activation as a method of validating installations of OS X. There is the possibilty that the hardware is so similar to more current models that Epson will find it within reason to do the drivers for the entire line. As for your Creative x-Fi, I'd be blown away if Creative doesn't do drivers for Vista.

All the things I need or want to run on my computers run fine on XP. So to me, Vista is no big deal. Some day I will undoubtedly buy a new computer, As long as an OS properly runs on my hardware, reads my text files, my iPod, my Palm and my Alphasmart (as Jesper says, "the apps", it's OK with me.

All that's needed is to download and run the correct single installer file for your version of Linux. It will go off, identify and resolve any dependencies, Unfortunately it is only for a 64bit OS, and my hardware does not support the 64bit Ubuntu distro. Without sound I cannot use it for 3 of my primary uses.

First of all, SHE not, he, and I did do research to find out what my computer needed in order to run Vista. I have the information. Want to know what it says? You can at least try it out first with a live CD and see if it will work with your hardware. You dont need a faulty Upgrade Adviser.

If it were me, I might look at my hardware vendor's web site to see if Vista has been tested with your My understanding is that this comes in a couple of flavors. A certain level of computer horsepower is required for Vista to run in a limited fashion.
